I popped in to check on the two little boys while they were sailing their paper sailboats in the bathroom sink (yes, I'm a cool mom that allows them do this) and saw this on the sink counter. What on earth? A bug in a bag - with H2O.
Gabriel was conducting a science experiment. Apparently some bugs have spiracles which they can close when there is too much water and go into a sort of hibernation mode he said. I never heard of such a thing so I looked it up. I don't think Gabe quite grasped the process of the spiracle function. Placing a bug in a mini ziplock baggy overnight immersed in water does nothing. The bug is dead.
Experimentation is the heart of science...and it's always a good thing to remember that bugs are readily available just about anywhere in Wisconsin...:0)
ReplyDeleteLol! I am not at the point of letting the boys row sailboats in the sinks yet. You are definitely a cool mom. :)
