Mom of a Soldier

I never imagined being the mom of a soldier. I take full blame. I should have never bought him army camouflage pants as a child;-) He wore them so much that they did not get handed down to his brothers - holes in the knees, shredded pant leg bottoms, etc. Even the violin teacher noticed how much he wore them  - I think Mr. Bruce was grossed out -  I reassured him they were washed regularly.

Nathaniel took his Oath of Enlistment for the Army National Guard today. I feel like a terrible Mom for not being there. His recruiter Sgt. Liske took this photo with Nathan's phone. But you can bet we will go to his graduation from boot camp and training down south this February. At MEPS last week they said Nathaniel was the first person in a long time to question AND read through all the documents he was signing (which he did not sign). He went back today and signed the paperwork with the correct job position. He is a wise young man and thinks for himself. It's other people he'll encounter I will worry about. In the meantime I'll be praying along with the Grunt Padre and a host of others intercessors in Heaven for his safety and spiritual life and especially when he is deployed shortly after boot camp and training.

  1. We will be praying for him and you. I'm sure there are some blessings that will come from all this.
