Field Trip

My friend Deb generously took an hour out of her busy day to let us visit her hobby farm this A.M. I always say, "Who needs Encyclopedia Britannica when I can go ask Deb!" I am always fascinated by her knowledge on a plethora of subjects.

 Bonding

The children were in the van and we were getting ready to go back home, when Deb's daughter announced the ewe was lambing (giving birth). I had never seen a newborn lamb, so I ran back (without the children) to sneak a peak and shoot a photo. Fast forward. Not only did I see newborn lamb #1, but I witnessed the ewe pass her second lamby #2. AMAZING! I was fascinated by the whole lambing process. First I saw a foot presenting itself and before I knew it, the ewe gave birth - standing up - what a woman! Dorothy wiped the head and nose off well with a towel to make it easier for the lamb to breath. Then Deb lifted the lamb up by the rear legs and they vigorously rubbed its sides. They put the lamb by its mama on the hay in front of her and she began to lick the lamb to clean off the rest. Baby lamby let out the cutest little bleat and Mrs. Ewe began "talking" to her lamb. What an experience! The older I get the more fascinated I am by God's creation.
