Welcome to Adulthood, Nathaniel!

Nathaniel's Birthday fell on Good Friday this year (April 22).  What a great way to begin adulthood...with a obligatory penitential fast. His exact words were, "I didn't even get to eat three full meals." To that I say, "Whaaaaaaa!"

So we celebrated his 18th Birthday on Easter. He was then allowed his three full meals plus some. ;-)
I refuse to save him the embarrassment of a sappy mother's write up about what a great son he is. So for the record, I want the world to know that Nathaniel has a tender heart and I admire his hidden acts of charity. He's tough on the outside, but peel back those muscles and abs and you'll discover a young man that is quick to help those in need without thinking twice. At times his generosity puts me to shame.  He sees things as they really are and wants to make a difference in the lives of others. I don't think there is a pretentious bone in him. I'm reminded of St. Augustine's quote, "Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage. Anger that things are the way they are and courage to make them the way they ought to be." He makes me laugh with his daily anecdotes and quick wit. I like how he encourages and reminds the family of the necessity to have relaxation time together. (I often miss that part of the equation and focus on the ora et labora.) Little children and babies recognize his sweetness and often open their arms to him with tender affection. I'll end this abruptly for the young man's sake. I am so proud of you, my son, just for being you. Happy 18th Birthday! ♥ Mom
