Hangin' With "The Habsburgs"

As we age, our date life seems to improve. Living in the metropolitan Twin Cities also affords us more opportunities to do unique things. We enjoyed a wonderful date today. We did something very unusual (for us, that is). The Knight took me to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts to the hang with the Habsburgs. It was a rare opportunity to see many masterpieces on display. At the same time, we learned so much about Austrian history from our tour guide in a short 1 1/2 hour stretch. I had a STRONG urge to snap a photo of this original Caravaggio,

but John advised against it (wise man). It's not every day you are inches from a Caravaggio and are not allowed to take a photo. Sigh. The Crowning of Thorns was the original and stunningly enrapturing. It was three dimensional and the way in which the light reflected on the images gave you the impression that you were there in this space and time at the third Sorrowful Mystery. It was recently restored and looked like it had been freshly painted. Indescribable painting unless you saw it in person. Simply astonishing. It was the highlight of our date (for me, anyway).

What was your favorite masterpiece, John? John?
