Joachim's Baptism (on 10-14-12)

When we began attending the Traditional Latin Mass twelve years ago, I was fascinated by all the ceremonies, one of them being the Rite of Baptism. The ceremony begins in the church entrance with many beautiful prayers and exorcisms. I wish my first four children had received baptism in the old rite. They could have used the exorcisms;-)

Joachim Joseph, I baptize you in the name of the Father, + and of the Son, + and of the Holy + Spirit.

Chrism has got to be thee most heavenly scent on earth. I did not wash Joachim's hair until the scent fully wore off four days later. Love, love, LOVE!

Everybod-eeeee!

Drewy got a special photo with Joachim because he was leaving for Europe that evening. I think he likes his new brother. Even guys think bitty babies are precious.

White as snow - a perfect little soul

This baptismal gown is a family heirloom of sorts. I was baptized in it. Every one of my siblings has been baptized in it as well as my mom's grandchildren. I'm not going to try and count how many that is.

  1. Congratulations to the newest little Christian! We love the traditional baptism too. Doug has ours scheduled in November. His favorite things about it are also the exorcism prayer and the fact that it is shorter. Lol! No, really, he loves the ancient beauty of it.
