Preparing and Organizing

I am really anxious about this next birth. It can be really difficult for me to trust Our Lord, which I know is ridiculous because He knows what we can handle. So many people and things have been put in front of me this pregnancy, that I can't help but wonder if God is preparing us for something.

I had just about everything washed and ready to go last month mid-August. We've had two boys (Nathaniel and Augustine) arrive three weeks early and I was not at all prepared. I've been stocking up on diapers and wipes almost every paycheck for the last 4 months. Oh, and can you tell I love little boys in baby blue and white...yellows, too (those are hidden underneath the piles.)

Onto the organizing...
Problem
I did not take a before photo, but I sifted through the old files and did dig up this one that one of the children must have taken a couple of years ago. Please ignore the toddler boy wearing his sister's pink coat and gloves and my favorite-ist vacuum ever in the forefront. The whole point here is to have a place for everything and everything in it's place - something to make life easier for the winter months.

Solution
Everyone now has their own basket with winter supplies: hat, gloves, etc. They were the solution to a few problems. 1.) The old system of having hats in one crate and gloves in another was time consuming and not practical. They ended up mixed together. 2.) The toddler was always getting into them when they were accessible at ground level and we could not find a matching pair of gloves when needed. 3.) I no longer need to hear, "He's wearing my hat. He's wearing my gloves," etc.! Problem has been solved. The winter boots is another story- I'm not there yet!

I am a basket case - I really, really, really like baskets. ;-) I wish I had stocked up on these when they went on clearance at Target. I only got as many as I needed for this organization project (plus some of the bigger sized ones for the kids' school books) and now I could kick myself in the pants because they have discontinued carrying them.

And the cute little tags I got here. (I'm into details. I consider it a burden at times.) I had a $25 coupon plus free shipping, so I paid next to nothing for them. I waited and waited for a good deal in hopes they would not discontinue these cute little buggers. My patience paid off. I seldom get that lucky.

  1. You are so on top of things! I'm really impressed. I love your idea about organizing winter things too. The shoe bin drives me crazy. And so does the hat, mitten, scarf bin. It is a nightmare!
