Rainy Days and Mondays

I am a Play-doh convert. I remember purchasing it when our first two were little. I hated the mess so I quit buying it for years. It made its way back into our house again when a friend brought some over as a Christmas present. I cringed.

Having many children "cured" me of the mess phobia by force and I relented. If you've ever read or watched The Magic School Bus, you'd hear Miss Frizzle's great motto in which I try to live by with children; "Take chances, make mistakes and get messy!" My standards have not sunk to great lows, but reality is that children need to create and in doing so they will often leave a trail behind them. I teach them to be tidy. When they are finished they help clean the mess as best as they can and I finish the rest.

Play-doh's latest creations are really cool, especially for boys. They love the Diggin Rigs Grinding Gravel set.

Chip the Cutter Tool is a big hit, too.

Even the older kids walk by, grab a color and mold it into something.

Meanwhile.....
I hear some duet-ing in the other room from the pinky-painted princesses.

What's a rainy day without a rainy day mural!

  1. Your photos are so nice here. I like the variety and details. :)

P.S. I'm also horrible at letting things get messy while Isaac learns -- ugh! But I'm working on that.
