Priestly Hospitality

On Thursday morning we journeyed to Cashton, WI, to visit with our dear friend, Father G. He is rector of the beautiful St. Mary's in the heart of a breathtaking country side with abounds of picturesque rolling hills. Surrounding the area is Wisconsin's largest Amish community. It is not at all uncommon to see passers-by in horse and carriage. When we arrived and got out of our van early that morning, two smirkish (yet friendly) ladies passed by in their buggy and acknowledged us. Two of our boys got to serve the 8 am Mass. It was a great honor!
I am not quite sure what Nathaniel is singing while making coffee for Father. I am sure I do not want to know either. He is our comedian. If you see him with a hat upturned, humor him and throw in a quarter. ;-)
Father's minions
The little people's table: Gussy, Maggy and Johnny
Pictured from back center going clockwise: John sporting a candle goatee, Elizabeth with mouthful of food not wanting to be seen, Francesca the cooperative one with genuine smile, Andrew - the facial expression says it all, Gabriel eating without utensils what he thought was "finger food", Nathaniel looking guilty and Father graciously pouring the photographer a much needed glass of red wine. My photogenic bunch. Not.
Peek-a-boo!
We are very grateful for Father's Christlike hospitality. He went to the extreme in so many ways for such a large and sometimes uncivilized bunch. ;-)
