She Is a He and Gone

I took Arpeggio to the vet yesterday morning for her new kitty exam. It turns out that she is a HE. I wondered about that because we gave her a kitty bath the other night and while toweling her off I kept thinking.....she looks like a he. I should have checked when we picked her out, but I would have expected the owners to be knowledgeable in this matter and I trusted that she was a girl. Okay, back to the exam. It only got worse and the exam continued on a downward spiral. He tested positive for kitty leukemia. Weird. I didn't know cats could get leukemia. He had an 85% chance of dieing within the next few years with possible heaps of vets bills. No thanks. He was literally on his way out the door this afternoon to be taken to kitty heaven had the Knight not checked our messages one last time before the fluffy feline was going to meet his maker. The family was understanding in taking him back only because we had asked for a female and we ended up with a male. (They didn't acknowledge the positive test results.) So he went back to his home at the homestead. Saved.

Prior to getting Pedgy, the Knight had gone old school and set mouse traps. I was not about to cave in to having an animal at that point. I have enough to take care of and limited patience with creatures who possess no soul. We did capture one fatty mouse whose last meal was a nibble of cheese and have not seen droppings downstairs since. So I'm hoping there is no need for a cat at this point. Problem solved....for now.
