Flores Martyrum, Feast of the Holy Innocents

Today marks the feast day of the Holy Innocents.

Jean-Marie would have been the same age as those Holy Martyrs.

I can't imagine the suffering that those mothers and families endured at the hands of a jealous king, Herod.

The Church venerates these children as martyrs (flores martyrum).

Our modern day Herods are the abortionists.

Their victims are the innocents in the womb.

As the Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade approaches...

...let us remember to pray for the women and their unborn, so that one day they may not have any regrets and have to say, "I can not be comforted, because they (their aborted babies) are not." ~Matthew 2:18

  1. Love it! It really is profound: Rachel weeping for her children and she would not be comforted. A priest last Sunday mentioned that historians think the number would have been about 40. What a far cry from 40 million - but to each mother, an irreplaceable life. It's no wonder that so many people suffer from mental illnesses today!

The photos are beautiful! Did you take them?

  2. Yes, I too have heard that number, which was based on the population of Bethlehem at that time.

I wish I could credit myself for the photos. My friend's sister is a freelance photographer and does an amazing job! She uses natural light only. (No one would ever have known how uncooperative Johnny was being!)
