For All the Saints...and Seculars Too;-)

I'm SO proud of the children. Not only because they behaved exceptionally well at the Saints Day Party (plus Jean-Marie slept in Daddy's arms half the time), but because two of them thanked me over and over and said it was the best day they ever had. Gratuity in the form of a verbal "thank you" is especially gratifying when it comes from your children.

Originally I contemplated weather or not we should attend the party this year because I get so tired. Very tired. Then I am reminded by my Guardian Angel that these are memories of faith for my children. Time once again to put aside Self (cough, cough).

Once acquiesced to reality (which is quite difficult for the melancholic-choleric) I then delighted in watching them get up onto the stage in front of lots of people and tell about their saint. It tickled me to hear them pronounce and sometimes stumble over those Big words such as "tertiary".

These photos wear taken at home where they (read between the lines, "I") was more relaxed.

Our Saints

Pictured here is the husband of our family doctor (Mr. A.) as St. Ignatius of Loyola. He if often seen at different local special events dressed in period clothing.  Spectacular costume! I think I should get one of those for John, my Knight;-)

After the All Saints Day party the kiddos headed out to the secular world begging for cavity creepers.
MaryAnn E., do you recognize Jean-Marie's costume???

My good friend Cheryl's daughter, Claire, with Mag (one cold princess).

  1. Wow! You did a lot of work on those costumes. We skipped all saints because my sewing machine broke and I didn't feel like going out to buy anything this year. At least we got to Mass. That made me feel slightly better.

We did the secular thing with costumes from previous years. A few were a little short on the kids but no one could tell in the dark! Happy Feast of All Saints. Anne Marie is reading the St. Colette book you sent us this week for school. Again. It is her favorite saint and maybe next year I will have enough energy to make her a St. Colette costume!
