Engineers' Day and Badgers Game

One week ago today, Dad and Nathan went to Madison for engineers' day. They both had a good time seeing the campus and visiting with some cousins who attend UW Madison. Nathan especially enjoyed the Badgers homecoming game and spending time with his Dad. A big flare of the trip was watching Bucky do up to 41 push ups for every point the Badgers made.

Below is a supercomputer that was created for a fraction of the old supercomputers price tags. This one has roughly 5,700 processors that were stacked in these 6 computer cases assembled by a Muslim grad student and an American undergrad. It is capable of burning one standard length DVD in 1/10 of a second. A must have for digital pirates. A rough estimate of the price without helpful funding was $118,000, cheaper than your typical Porsche. It is the computer that is going to be used for the Martian probe that will be sent to Mars to perform a series of tests. The purpose of this computing beast is to perform the calculation for this probes every movement prior to its landing on the planet. It calculates down to the micro grain of sand on the surface of Mars as there is a seven minute lapse between what is viewed on the scientist's cameras and what actually happens.

Above and below is the Homecoming Badger's football game. Cool Beans!
