Bijou

Bijou was scheduled to get the ax this afternoon at the local Humane Society. I got the guilt trip from the entire family and canceled the appointment. So....they don't mind being bitten? She bites. Frequently. It got to be more out of control after we moved. My friend Michele suggested I watch Cesar 911. I did. Three of Cesar Millan's shows gave me hope for Bijou. She is trainable. I realized that Bijou thinks she is in charge and is extremely unsocialized. She had not been socialized enough to other people, dogs, and new experiences, and she reacts aggressively out of fear and lack of confidence. Had she joined our family in the spring she would have had this exposure to the outdoors and other dogs and people in the neighbor, but she didn't and I didn't recognize her behaviors were associated with being unsocialized. It's going to take a lot of diligence on my part, but I'm certain I can correct these behaviors. The hardest part will be getting everyone else on board to train her along with me which is totally necessary to correct the situation. We'll see how it goes.
