This is Elizabeth's first year on a payroll. Over the past three summers, she was a nanny to the neighbor's boys directly across the street, so she had no need for another job. Their oldest son is now old enough to keep an eye on his younger brother so they no longer need a nanny.
She applied at many places before summer and landed two jobs immediately (I wish she had taken the job at Seroogy's, but I couldn't talk her into it.) She chose the position of a line girl at HuHot and keeps all the food stocked in the Create a Meal buffet section. The customer creates his own Mongolian stir fry with a variety of meat, seafood, vegetables, and sauces in the line then takes his food to the hibachi grill where it is cooked while the grill warriors entertain. It is a fast-paced job keeps her busy from the time she clocks in to the time she clocks out. There is never a lull for her position.
Her second job was at what used to be my favorite restaurant - it is not anymore. She was a hostess. There were two incidents in one day's time that had her in tears. She was blamed for problems created by others in front of her coworkers and customers. The accusations were harsh enough to scare even the customers away so she returned later on to resign. She learned firsthand what an ugly world it is out there. Also, she learned that sometimes being morally stable means walking away from a job that you love. Life can be hard, but it only made her stronger in the end.

Can I get some Seroogy's? ;)
