First Day of School

Today was a big day for the chickadees - the first day of school in a new state, meeting new peers that will eventually blossom into friendships, formal schooling vs. homeschooling, temporary city living vs. the country and practically new everything. I was just as nervous as they were.

We are going to have to leave very early to get to school on time. Traffic is not as bad as Chicago, but it's definitely going to take some getting used to. I'll never be a city slicker. I'll never be a morning person either. It's being forced upon all of us. We are tired people!

Meanwhile, back at the house, Joachim kept himself entertained emptying baskets of toys and making himself comfortable inside the nest.

The hours went by quickly the first day, but he missed his siblings.

Johnny looked scared stiff after his first day. He had separation anxiety. Poor kid. He was so happy to see me. He gave me a big bear hug and told me how much he missed me and "the baby (Jojo)."

Snarky teen

It's nearly impossible to take photos with a wiggly toddler strapped to my back.

Where is mom?

First day of school  - check!
