Walk to Mary 2014

Last year John's sisters stayed and visited with us around this time and made a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Good Help. It was the first annual Walk to Mary. This year his sister MaryAnn stayed with us and made the pilgrimage. We had planned to go together as a family this time, but life is unpredictable, so I don't know why I was shocked that Joachim had a croupy barking seal cough the entire night prior to the pilgrimage. I had considered bundling Jojo up and bringing him anyway, but I realized I was being very selfish after my best friend Cheryl reminded me of my responsibility to stay home and tend to him. She's a great friend like that. I dropped John and the children off at mile 15 (it was supposed to be mile marker 20 for the children's modified pilgrimage) and headed back home with Jojo. Three of the kiddos rode the shuttle bus after walking a few miles because Gussy wiped out and needed some tlc. It's probably a good thing I didn't go.

MaryAnn is a champion. She walked the entire 21 mile pilgrimage from the National Shrine of St. Joseph at St. Norbert Abbey in De Pere, WI to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, WI.

John and his sister MaryAnn. If I could be even half as giving as John's sister, I may have a chance at entering everlasting happiness.

I hope to join them some year.

Our Lady to Sister Adele Brise on the Education of Children

"Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation," uttered Our Lady [of Good Help].

"But how shall I teach them who know so little myself?" replied Adele.

"Teach them," replied her radiant visitor, "their catechism, how to sign themselves with the sign of the Cross, and how to approach the sacraments; that is what I wish you to do. Go and fear nothing. I will help you."

  1. Thanks for he compliment, Mary, but I have a long way to go on my road to Heaven! I only can hope I make it there one day. Thanks for letting me stay at your place. It was so good to see all of you! The kids look like they are all doing well. It was very uplifting doing the walk and being around so many positive people. I'm really looking forward to next year's walk!
