Busy Week of Traveling

Courtyard at Benedictine (Elizabeth's favorite spot is through the arches to the second floor in Cafe 62 where they brew coffee tastier than Starbucks.)

Benedictine College overlooks the Missouri River

This wee munchkin missed big sissy very much. He was thrilled to have her all to himself for a few days.

A word to the wise: I strongly recommend not traveling alone across 4 states with a toddler. It can make for a miserable trip. Two hours of crying and indescribable sleep deprivation are only a tip of the iceberg.

I watched this little tweet struggle to put a bitsy twig into her home to build a nest. She was so determined to fit it through that little quarter-sized opening. She tried over and over, this way and that. I was quite amused. If only I could tell her to turn it sideways, she'd have done just fine.

Abbey where the cloistered monks live at Benedictine (I don't know why I feel guilty saying it reminds me of Downton Abbey.)

Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes (Lizzy says it's especially beautiful at night with the glow of votive candles and outdoor lighting.)

Another view of the courtyard

*Note: I can see why Elizabeth is already looking forward to next semester. The college setting is beautiful, Atchison has gorgeous weather and she is surrounded by people that share the same faith.

  1. I keep wondering if Downton Abbey was stolen from the Church during the Protestant Reformation. All it says on Wiki is that it was the property of the Bishops of Winchester from the 8th Century and then in 1679 it became the property of the Carnarvon Family. There is no explanation of how or why this took place but the year is definitely post English Reformation.

Beautiful campus! I want to go back to college:-) Great years!
