Spring Break 2014

Hodgepodge of Smart Phone and Nikon Photos

Day one - Wild West Waterpark

Yes, it is Lent. My scrupulous conscience does not want to be the cause of scandal. This is the first time we have ever gone anywhere during Lent for a mini two day get away of sorts. (We no longer have the flexibility of a home schooling family, so we have to do things when the kids have days off.) I needed something, anything, and let me tell you that if I could have dropped everything, hopped on a plane to Costa Rica for an entire month, I would have done it. Easily. December through part of March felt like a never ending foretaste of a never ending lent and this very little fraction of time away with the family is what I needed to make it through to Easter at the very least since we really don't even have a spring in Wisconsin. We have four seasons here:  Spring - closely resembling the beginning of Winter, Summer - closely resembling what Spring should be, Fall - when you just begin to get used to the short summer, and Winter - which feels like it is never going to end while wearing holes in your long johns and wool socks.

I had to post the following photos again and include a succession of two more photos of the three after Joachim peed on the Knight. Jojo's expressions say it all. John was such a good sport about it.
Uh, oh!

Did anyone see that?

I just peed on my Daddy.

The oldest three boys had already taken off to make a splash in the water.

Later that evening. Boys enjoying the Glacier Canyon Lodge bunkbeds that they don't have at home and will never have if I can help it. They equal ER visits and stitches or broken bones in this house.

He must think he's the hulk. He just walked in from an evidently productive workout and is feeling bad to the bone.

Moving on to day two: Wild WaterDome Waterpark

You older kids come back here and let me take just one photo of you all and then you can go. (I think I took 5.) Nathan was at Starbucks. He's getting to be an old man. He didn't want to go in the water anymore the second day. He said just being in Wisconsin Dells was enough in itself and enjoyable.

It is too loud in here, Mama!

Should I itch my ear or pick my nose? Real men can do both at the same time.

The Wild WaterDome has got to be thee best indoor waterpark anywhere in the world. I mean it. It is humongous, always warm and always feels like sunshine no matter how many clouds are overhead (roof is see-through.) I cannot say it enough. I love this place. It is why we came. For this. Love. Love. Love. It's the closest thing we can come to to get the feel of the tropics far away.

Is that you, Mom?

A herd of discombobulated meeses, I mean mooses.

  1. I'm so glad you got away. Too bad it was so short. I totally would have headed to the waterpark too. there are plenty of penances even on vacation. Sometimes more. I think we get peed on by the baby every time we go. Even in a swim diaper. They don't work. The last time half of the kids came down with the stomach flu!
