Jolly Old St. Nicholas

Yesterday, I went into a brief panic mode when I could not find our St. Nicholas costume. It had been lent out in previous years and evidently not returned. Thanks to a post on a social network it was found quickly and John picked it up on his way home. Little did John know I had more plans for that costume besides just getting it back to pack away in the storage. I presented him with an idea. He did not sound to keen on getting up early on his one weekday he had off and play the part of St. Nick. I don't blame him. So I did not push the issue. After all, he had used up time after work to retrieve it for me and I better leave well enough alone. Imagine my surprise when he jumps out of bed this morning and comes out of our master bathroom in this get up. I was so excited! I grabbed my cell phone next to the nightstand near our bed and followed him. I was not going to miss the kids' reactions to our special guest. It was priceless. I wish I had recorded it instead. They will never forget it either. I am certain.

Imagine that. St. Nick was discalced? I thought that was only reserved for the Carmelites. Well this man gives away so much of his riches he has no money left over for a pair of his own shoes. Blessed are the poor in spirit;-) To tell you the truth...he is wearing his pajamas under that cassock. Squeals with laughter!

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there

St. Nick did not make a personal visit to Jojo for fear of marking him for life with a good scare straight out of his crib. Wise man that St. Nick is. Jojo was happy with his gift that the jolly man left in his stocking - Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes. It is no exaggeration that he clung to it for hours and played it over and over while smiling every now and then.
