Gourds

All of the chickadees (minus Andrew) painted gourds at some point over the weekend. Next time we will buy acrylic paint for this project. Tempera (which is all we had on hand) and gourds do not mix. It comes off to the touch and peels in the outdoor cold. So we rescued the gourds from the shivery front porch and they are now gracing our dusty fireplace mantel. Can you guess which ones the girls painted? I have to add that Joachim was a good sport. I painted his hand green, not once, but 5 times and tried to apply a baby handprint to his gourd. Seemed an impossible task with a slippery painted wiggly baby hand on a rounded surface. The fifth time he extended his hand out to me without resistance like he was saying, "Oh brother, get it right this time, will ya?"
