Summer Vacation 2013 Day 2

After another day in the waterpark we made a quick jaunt to nearby Briggsville and thanked St. Philomena for her intercession on behalf of our little Joachim.

I wonder what he was thinking?

Cavity Central. This candy shop is so much fun, so cheery and so pink! My mom took me here a few times when I was a little girl.

The variety of candies and chocolates is overwhelmingly extensive. That can also make it difficult (and takes forever) for the littler kids to choose since their taste buds are less developed than the older kids. The older ones pretty much picked something right away.

And this is only one bitty section of the store. Zoiks!

Guess why he picked this one? I couldn't figure it out until I looked at the previous photo. It was the only one of it's kind, it was right at his height level and it was not so girly. Of course. It called out, "Pick me! Pick me!"

Everything was so pretty.

My favorite - chocolate. According to ask.com,  "Americans consume between eleven and twelve pounds of chocolate a year. However, the countries which consume the most chocolate per person are Switzerland (22 lbs per person), Austria (20 lbs per person), and Ireland (19 lbs per person)." This is one department where we American's can improve. It can begin with me;-) Give me chocolate!!!

Delectable

Poor Maggy. She has to put up with so many fighting boys.

A barter system is a much better choice than gnashing of teeth.

A scene from Mary Poppins

Big Chief Carts

Thought bubble: I can't wait until I get my license.

We all could have sworn Andrew was given a smaller go cart. Look at how he dwarfs that thing.

Let's get a cropped closeup of these two. Bwahahahaha

Andrew did not feel very well most of the trip.

Sometimes kids get the short end of the stick in large families. Sometimes it is always the same ones getting jipped. I have to pay better attention to this. Maggy did not get to ride on the go carts in Dells because she was not tall enough. Everyone got in line thinking she would ride with Andrew, but he had to be 18. Rules, rules, rules. Whatever happen to having fun? So we went to a local place today and made up for it after we picked Nathan up from a week of working night shifts in Madison and she got her turn after all. I think she was quite pleased. She even chose her big brother over Daddy.

Thee End. A short vacation. Kids have jobs and sports and we could not time manage it any other way.

  1. Lovely. I can't wait to visit the dells again now. I love how photography helps people to see old things in new ways without having to use words!

  2. Go carts are so much fun! I haven't been on one in a long time and I'm afraid the younger ones haven't either!
