Francesca begins High School today as a Freshman and Andrew is entering as a Junior. Gabe begins after Labor Day and the three home schooled kiddos began last week (with a few bumps in the road). This should be an interesting season of change for our family. Note to self: Take one day at a time. Just one. Handle it with prayer.
And....they're off!
Good luck! What an exciting change for everyone! Are they driving themselves? That would make it so much easier. We are looking at doing something like this in two years. The girls school doesn't start until 6th grade and the boys starts in 3rd. So Anne Marie and John would start at the same time. And maybe at that point I will be ready to homeschool the younger set again:-)
ReplyDeleteThey are driving themselves or I should say Andrew is the one with a license and driving the both of them. We signed Andrew up at the last minute (after he finally agreed) and he will be completing 3 credits in Seton that he was behind in simultaneously with his Junior year load at Notre Dame Academy. He is going to be super busy. I am glad they are accommodating us with his unique situation. One GREAT disadvantage to homeschooling (at least in our house) is the lack of peer pressure in a good way, meaning competition or drive to get things done in a timely manner. I will be done homeschooling completely possibly next year with the anticipated opening of the new Our Lady of Good Help Academy for grades K-8. I have known for years that I am not capable of homeschooling any longer (as much as it breaks my heart) and it is in some ways a great burden lifted. Yes, it was a huge burden for me. I was spread to thin after each new baby and it took a little more life from me after each one. There are many great moms that do just fine. I am not one of them. It is a calling. I really felt I had no other option, so I stuck with it. I do not completely regret homeschooling, I just would have done things differently knowing what I know now from experience.
