I always tell him not to plant the tomatoes too close together, but he does it anyway. Who am I to give orders when all I do is eat the food. Ant and the Grasshopper ring a bell? Ha.
Onions, cucumbers, and guess what? More friggin tomatoes that replaced the dead cucumber plants;-)
Zucchinis plants and extra large pumpkin plant in back left - a gift from our neighbor who grew a 300 lb. pumpkin from this same batch of seeds last year. No joke. It was in the newspaper with a picture of his little boy. I hope we can produce such a pumpkin. It will make a nice photo prop this fall.
Green peppers (center) limping along. They will have a chance now that the wheelbarrow of weeds is gone.
And everyone's favorite, Oh, it's beans, beans, beans, they make you feel so fine.
After a week of fun at boys' camp, we put Gabe to work upon return. He mowed the lawn and helped empty the weeds for Dad.
We have had GORGEOUS sunsets all summer long (here is tonight's). Is it especially beautiful against the backdrop of the Argentinian horse stables located behind us. (They are a super rowdy bunch, but hearing the sounds of horses neighing in the morning and evening hours makes up for it.)
Nice garden! Did John chaperone again this year at Boy's Camp?
ReplyDeleteJohn was only there the first day, part of the fourth evening and all of the last day.
DeleteThe Midwest is so pleasant in the summer! Thanks for sharing these photos. I miss having a garden.
