Good St. Nick

You all know his story. If not, you may find it HERE.

I won't bore you with my story of not finding a matching stocking for Joachim. It bothers me and such a frivolous thing shouldn't. But it does. I left the packaging on his "J" stocking in hopes of finding a stocking that matches his siblings' and returning his to the store.

So.....on to the better part. Every year on the eve of St. Nick's feast day my children write letters to the Christ Child to be delivered by St. Nicholas. They generally include gratitude of some kind (thanksgiving), how they have behaved throughout the year (forgiveness) and what they would like for Christmas (petition).

Here are a few excerpts from each child's letter in no particular order:

"I love my family and don't want anything this year."

"Thank you [Christ Child] for everything you have given me this year, especially my new baby brother and my boyfriend."

"I have been a little naughty this year, but I will try to stop." (humble)

"...so honestly there's nothing I need, because I have You!"

"I would also like to thank you for putting me in the hands of the best, most loving, kind parents who care and love me."

"Thank you for making babies like Joachim...... Thank you for making food and pizza."

"This is what I would like if it is possible or if not don't bother." (hmmmm....this child needs a little reform.)

"Although it may seem a bit expensive (at first), it is cheaper to drive a car getting better mileage that a brute van plowing all others from its destination." (From the child requesting - with reason -  as to why he should be allowed to purchase a car soon.)

  1. Those are sweet -- what a variety! It's more interesting as the kids get older, I see!

We did St. Nick stockings for the first time this year.
