Gabe has been begging to play accordion for well over a year ever since we purchased an Italian dinner CD. Another instrument? Ugh! The thought of it was overwhelming and would drain the pocketbook. He was persistent and I didn't want to be the cause of a buried talent. I suspected he would be a natural (which I now know he is). I posted the request for an accordion in two places. I then sent up a direct request to Our Lord that went something like this. Lord, if you want Gabriel to learn to play the accordion, then it needs to be very obvious (like organ was with Andrew) and FREE. The very next day I received a phone call from Andrew's organ teacher. She had an accordion she was willing to sell to us. It was too big for her and she no longer had time to play. Not free, but a very good price and she thought she had a smaller one stored somewhere that we could use until he grows into the bigger one.
Abbe Kevin
Fast forward. Sunday we were examining and listening to Grace play the accordion (pictured below) in the church parking lot. In the meantime a visiting Abbe came outside because he was drawn to the sound of the instrument. He plays and repairs accordions. We got to talking and he said he had an instrument that would fit Gabe until he grew into the other one. And he also had books he could use -bonus. Okay, Lord. You answered that prayer very quickly. AND...the icing on the cake...Abbe volunteered to show him how to play properly and how to repair it too. A complete packaged prayer beyond what I had asked for. God is good and it is so nice to see generous souls!
What a neat story! Your prayers certainly get answered quickly, Mary. Maybe we should just have you pray for all of us, if we want quicker results. Can't wait to hear Gabe play us a song or two on his new accordian!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how God cares about ALL of the little details of our lives!
ReplyDeleteAll Gabe needs is a striped a-shirt and he'd look like an Italian hunk!!
