Vacation 2012

Fast forward. The second morning began with a visit from the puddle ducks. The kids ran out to feed them breakfast (our breakfast) in their pajamas - organic mini wheats. When I realized this I dashed to get the Sun Chips - much cheaper!

Mag is so much like I was (and still am). She is sporting princess castle pj bottoms with a tomboy sports top.

A entire new meaning was given to "life vest." They save one's fingers from being nibbled on by ducks...so Johnny thought.

It was all fun until the digestive duck tract kicked in and they began leaving presents for us all over the sidewalk. Augustine had the brilliant idea of lining a trail of Sun Chips on the ground to lead the ducks to the grass by the pond where they could poopy.

One happy Daddy now that he's had his beer. This resulted in a pair of antlers.

DAY THREE
Yet another reality check of our "vacation"

Suited up for Sky Ropes

Andrew was in perpetual motion. That made it difficult to get a photo of him.

Later at Pedros

Poor Maggy! Earlier that Friday afternoon she took a tumble with an innertube and we made a trip to urgent care to pry her top lip off her braces. It must have been pretty painful because she wanted to be medicated. The PA was then able to separate her top lip from the bracket after trying very hard not to cause more pain. Afterward, while all the other kids where hanging from the Sky Ropes and playing games, Maggy went to get ice cream with Daddy. Francesca is so thoughtful. She gave Maggy the cowgirl hat that she won in the arcade while Maggy had to rest and keep an ice pack on her swollen lips. I am so thankful things were not worse.

DAY FOUR
First Class Relic of St. Philomena

Isn't she beautiful? On August 3rd Drew Mariani (Relevant Radio talk show host) had posted a facebook link about the St. Philomena novena. I had heard about numerous miraculous favors granted through her intercession and cures from her blessed oil. Many years ago, a mother of 19 told me of little town just outside Wisconsin Dells in Briggsville, WI that hosts her relic. We visited the National Shrine of St. Philomena to ask her intercession for our little Joachim in utero and other special favors.

Back in the Dells

Mag's lips were healing up nicely 24 hrs. later.

DAY FIVE
We visited with family at a park I used to work at before heading back home on the last day. I'll post a few pics from that day and call it a night. I'm up waaaaay to late.

Here is my Knight with my brother Mitch - He-Men!

  1. What a great time it looks like you all had! Poor Maggie -- I was always afraid of that happening when I had braces.

    We are praying for Joachim!

  2. Keeping Joachim in our prayers. It looks like you had a wonderful time in the Dells, Briggsville, and at the lake. It's great spending downtime with family, isn't it?!
