Redecorating Bedrooms

Elizabeth's room: too busy with color (One needed a pair of sunglasses upon entering it was so bright!) ;-)

She toned it down with a shade of grey. Here we have a photo of her having just thrown herself onto the bed hoping that I would not take a photo of her messy and unfinished bedroom. She can't decide on a comforter because she has exquisite taste and cannot afford the one she really wants. Welcome to the real world, honey!

She took many tedious hours painting 88 piano keys on a niche near her closet. They turned out fabulous!

Gussy and Johnny's room was much too dark and two of the walls hosted an array of  Picaso portraits sketched in indelible marker. Why my kids always choose to use Sharpies I will never understand. It can never be something erasable. Ever.

I am thinking of going from the old Pottery Barn cowboy theme to a Medieval theme of sorts with shields, swords, castle, etc. The boys' comforters are dilapidated and could now be categorized as bedsheets they are worn so thin. I hate to give them up. I suffer from detachment of worldly things and I like these just as much as when I first got them when our older two boys were little. I've been scanning the internet for decorating ideas that are simple, yet uniquely stand out and are functional for two busy boys.

One idea involves building an attached wall ladder and shelves for the above cubby near their closet in which they can climb up the wall on the left and have access to their buckets of Lego's and Playmobile and books on stationary shelves in the center. I would have loved something like that as a child.

I'm running out of time and energy to complete this project that we began in the first week of July. It may not be completed by the time October gets here. Sigh.

I love the progression throughout the house. I've always been one to browse the tool catalogues (uktoolcentre.co.uk)for hours on end and never actually get round to doing anything. Very inspiring, I'll be sure to stockpile some motivation!
