Photography: 10 Ways to Make Your Photos Great
Photographer Warren Kosikov gives us his top tips for getting the best possible pictures of your children.
*9 is my favorite!
1. Always fill the frame.
2. Shoot eye level, particularly babies.
3. Edit your photos. IE: Change a few to black and white for a nice effect.
4. Use your flash outdoors. It gives a much clearer picture of faces.
5. Pay attention to the background. Get close so you don't have to crop. Make a photo nice and tight.
6. Don't be afraid to place the subject off-center. Every photo does not have to have the child in the center.j
7. Use props. Kids love to have fun!
8. Don't make it a photo shoot. Tell them you are going to the park or going to play outside or going to the beach, etc.
9. Capture the candid moments. Stop making your kids look at the camera and say cheese. Every picture you have is going to be a silly picture of your kid looking at the camera saying cheese. Catch him in an intimate moment.
10. Take a lot of photos. You may take hundreds and hundreds to get one. It's digital. You can delete them and it does not cost a thing.

These are helpful! My pictures have been so bad lately. I think I haven't been paying enough attention to the light. #8 is helpful too!!
ReplyDeleteLight plays a HUGE part. Very early mornings and very late afternoons throw gorgeous lighting. Some of my nicest photos are from a park with thick forestry with tiny bits of light popping through the trees.
