Gaudete Sunday

We chose a 9 ft. Balsam by the name of John this year...

 ...and had him bailed.

We have passed by this darling tree farm for years. (You are probably thinking, "What tree farm? I can't see anything past that super sized boxy van!) Not once have we made it here in time to cut our own tree. This year was no different. So we picked out a pre-cut. Other years we did not make it in time for the pre-cut either.

We don't normally put our tree up until right before Christmas, as Advent is a joyful time of preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ. It can be tempting to succumb to worldliness. Do you celebrate your baby's birth a month in advance? I didn't think so. So during Advent we make an extra effort to focus on the creche, special feast days, extra prayers, novenas and the spiritual life in general.
