That Despicable "D" Word

After every birth of a baby I've been able to get back to a pre pregnancy size by nursing our bambinos. It has worked for me without fail, that is, until now.  I'm no longer nursing, not pregnant, yet I'm still hanging on to "x" amount of flubber.  For the first time since marriage, I purchased 2 dresses online, 4 sizes bigger than usual. That stinks. I'm awaiting the arrival of two size 8/10 dresses from the Fedex guy, hoping they'll be big enough without a sausage effect.

The past few days I've noticed (more than usual) that my stomach "jiggles" when I run down our stairs. Gross. This is going to be a real challenge as I've never had to watch what I eat until now. So today begins a plan of attack of the food and exercise regime.

 The eyeball serving size:
  • Meat = deck of cards
  • Fish= checkbook
  • Fruit = baseball
  • Potato = computer mouse
  • Rice/pasta = same
  • Cheese = domino
  • Salad dressing = ping-pong ball
  • 1 teaspoon oil = tip of my thumb
So far today, I've already blown the portion size twice on the cottage cheese and oil. The problem I have is I'm always convincing myself that if it's organic I can have as much as I like. Not.

I will be snack smart and eat things like baby carrots, fresh pineapple, or another glass of water.
I will make every effort to climb the long bypassed stairway at least 50-100 times per day. No more pawning those stairs off to my minions.

Dresses arrived. I'll be right back.

Disappointment. Both are snug. And I ordered a size M. Hmmm. Now I really need to get to work and shed those pounds. Suggestions are welcome.

  1. Have you tried pilates? It only takes like 20-30 mins 3 times a week or more often if you like. I loved doing them pre-pregnancy! It's just hard to get into the routine. I think the food portion is a big thing too. I am a sweet lover so I hardly have them in the house anymore and when I do I take small portions. If you have granola and yogurt they are great snack meals. Plus if you eat 6 small meals throughout the day it helps too! Just try to snack healthy in small portions.
    :) Good luck!!!!
