The Knight & the Maiden
There once was a Maiden, who dreamt of a Knight;
Donning armor of virtue, occasionally forthright.
Whose physique was as powerful, as prevailing tempest winds;
Yet, gentle like that of a newly birthed lamb.
Chivalry suited with kindness, yet brave;
Willingness to suffer, for Christ's Church He gave.
His Armor of God, consisted of these;
Shield of faith, hope and charity, through reciting Mary's Beads,
A Helmet of Salvation, crowning his head;
O' that of Wisdom, told o' His blood shed.
A Breastplate of Righteousness, protecting his heart;
Deflecting the world's arrows, from Christ's side ne'er part.
A man with compassion, and thoughtfulness abound;
Moments of guilefulness, ne'er to be found.
Who, you may probe, is this noble man of worth;
So goes the plot, which I now will unearth.
It happened one day, while plunking out notes;
Seated next to the mother, of the Maiden's future beau.
Her plight had been answered, but yet was unknown;
Miss Maiden, her student, had noticed her son.
Then planted the seed was, though, quite later to bloom;
The sun truly blushed, as he entered the room;
(For radiance abounded, like light from His tomb.)
No ordinary smile, nay, competition with the sun;
That penetrated her heart, and would eventually be won.
His everlasting smile, enraptured her gaze;
From that moment on, the melodies a haze.
So the Maiden continued, harmonious indite;
Less interest in music, and more in the Knight.
Weeks became years, age set them apart;
The graces lie dormant, the keys to her heart.
Many years passed, the Knight rode away;
Seldom returns home, from his studious break.
Her fifteenth year o' age, the moment transpired;
Feelings once buried, resurfaced by the Squire.
The courtship began, though sporadic and seldom;
She patiently waited, but with detours of agonium.
They wed in the fall, 'twas the year ninety-two;
Two became one flesh, pronounced the words "I do."
Christ dubbed him her husband, 'till death due them part;
In return a fine Lady, sworn love of his heart.
The pursuit for happiness, was often disguised;
By worldlings and pleasures to behold with ones eyes.
And then favored blessings, of children came many;
Not one, two, or three, but eight Gems of plenty.
The music once silenced, ensued them with glee;
Welled up by the children, hymnody again freed.
She'd often revert to her Knight's penetrating smile;
That first beam still radiates from his lips undefiled.
Recurrently tested of plights and travails;
Sprinkled with patience, one's sure to prevail.
They underwent hardships, o' life's cup o' bitter;
Withstood by their faith, in Thee Divine Fulfiller.
Adventures entwined with bundles of jests;
Comedy and laughter, balancing act, come fest.
Cobblestone paths repaid with delight;
From the weaving connected to their spiritual fight.
Now eighteen years counting, faith quests 'til the end o' dawn;
They hope to join Heaven's illustrious song.
So ladies chose well of your gallant Knight;
For jousting life's journey you want Mr. Right.
His character will reflect o' the mirror to his heart;
You'll live with the day 'till your final depart.
