Yes, it is real granite, as far as I know. Aside from its beauty, it has it's flaws: If you drop glass on it, it will surely break, no rebounds. Secondly, it always looks clean even when it hasn't been wiped. We are often setting things down on the counter only to find that we've set it in something sticky! But I'll take its beauty over the drawbacks any day!
