DATE OF BIRTH August 25, 1928
DATE OF DEATH February 6, 2009
Never before have I witnessed such a beautiful display of love and affection for a father as this past week has proven. On February 2nd, the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Extreme Unction was administered to John's father, Lou (Alois). Since that time, his children have been true apostles in "keeping watch" with their father, praying day and night at his bedside, during his hours of Agony in Gethsemane. No longer able to be nourished by the body, Alois was continuously fed by the soul.Lou's life had been an endless offertory. He sacrificed much for his wife and children. He was a daily communicant, loved the Latin Mass, and enjoyed adventure. He was a model of St. Joseph in being a silent sufferer.
Lou's last clearly spoken words to us (just two months ago) were "Merry Christmas!" May every day of eternity be a Christmas for you Lou. We ask for your intercession in Heaven, that we too, your generation of present and future, may persevere 'till the end, suffering the white martyrdom of the Catholic Faith you suffered these past years.Eternal rest grant unto Alois, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the Mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
What a beautiful write up about Dad, Mary! I'm sure he is in Heaven, but I really miss him.
ReplyDeleteI think you meant 2009...check the year up top.
ReplyDeleteCorrected! Thank you, Fr. G.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. He certainly was a silent sufferer. He was the most patient man I've ever known in my life. It was so good seeing everyone. Hopefully we can again this summer when things are more happy.
