It is an ancient custom to bless the home on the feast of the Epiphany. This evening, daddy read the blessing and in addition, placed the initials of the Three Magi above each door entry using blessed chalk. It reads +20+G+M+B+09+, representing the year and the Three Magi connected by signs of the cross.*(King Melchoir must have gotten his hand too close to the thurible because he seems to be missing a few fingers!)
